The Club's new President, Bill Mitchell, weighs up the somewhat wet conditions as he looks on as he and Chairman, Brian Ridley, formally open the the green for 2017 Season in the Club's traditional Good Friday social event! It wasn't too long before the pie and peas got the better of them as they took sheletr in the dry and warm surroundings of the club house!!

It is with great sadness that the club have to inform members that Brian Lambert passed away this morning after a period of ill health. Brian, as I am sure you are aware, put in many years' service to Seedfield Bowling Club in the capacity of Chairman and President and he will be sorely missed by Eileen and his extended family, as well as his wider family of bowling friends. Our thoughts are with Brian's family.

Seedfielda's victory at Elton Lib on the 7th Feb 2017 secures the 2016/17 Title! Well done to Bill Mitchell, Brian Ridley, Paul Eslick and Paul Holt! Another accolade to add to the League's 'Roll of Honour'! In addition, Brian won the Veterans best average for the season!

Seedfield Mens Veterans Team not only win the Harrison Shield knock-out comp but they also come runners up in the League to Champions Tott Park A who they defeated three times in the season!!! The Club's Veterans Men’s team concluded a disappointing season with two defeats in two end-of-season finals!
The team finale to the season is the Lions Cup and Seedfield had comfortable Quarter Final and Semi-Final victories against Ainsworth (5-3) and Totty Park B (6-2) respectively. However, on Wednesday (25 Sep) they faced up to Hoyles in the final and Seedfield were up against it from the start as they had no less than eleven players absent who had played this season. On top of that, the handicaps for the two teams didn’t reflect this seasons league positions and Seedfield went down by 40 chalks with only two winning pairs! In terms of defeat - these should be seen as reasons and not excuses as Hoyles were by far the better team!
A month earlier and Seedfield were represented in the four-day Roberts Cup pairs at Manchester Road by Brian Ridley and Jim Murray. From a 54-pair field; they played consistent bowls throughout to reach the final only to succumb to last year’s defending champions, Derek Butterworth and Roger Church!
Commiserations to all our veteran players!

Two new bowls teams for Seedfield!
We now have a ladies team in the Bury Ladies Afternoon League on Thursday afternoons and we also have a mixed team in the Bury Sunday Morning League! FIXTURE DETAILS now on our website!

VETERANS END OF SEASON 'INVITATION' COMPS
Seedfield had representative pairs in the following 16-pair knock out comps:
Roberts Cup, Weds 19 Sep, Whitehead Park.
JOHN BLY and PETE COTTON reached Quarter Finals
Ball Cup, Mon 1 Oct, Dobbies.
NIGEL BENNETT and JIM MURRAY lost in the Final

FATHER AND SON WIN BURY LEAGUE PAIRS
Seedfield members, John and Chris Bly, were the winners of the League Pairs Competition held at Huntley Unionists on Saturday 18th August. The pair beat last year’s winners, Tommy Taylor and Terry Lytham, in a keenly contested final.
Semi finalists were Derek Butterworth and Roger Church (Clarence/Huntley) and John Woodward and Chris Harris (Prestwich Cons).
